Dear Drukyul Holidays,
I’m a seasoned traveller, having visited every continent on the planet. I went to Bhutan in early October 2014 with high expectations of new sights, sounds, people and tastes. Frankly, I had all my expectations exceeded.
The Managing Director from Drukyul Holidays was an amazing guide and host. We visited festivals in two cities, toured over some amazing mountains, sampled a wide array of local foods & drinks (I am now a huge Chai fan), met a wide range of people from royalty to farmers, and made many new friends. My biggest delight and insight was the opportunity to see Buddhism in action – from Dorji’s approach to life over our ten days together, to his family and local communities’ approach to life.
I was honoured to be shown the country and culture with a person who was so informed and passionate, yet so humble and generous. During my visit, we travelled to Central Bhutan, stayed in hotels and homestays, ate in hotels and homes, walked in markets and rice paddies and scaled the mountain to see Tiger’s Nest. It was amazing.
Personally, I’d rate Drukyul Holidays at 120 out of 100 and hope to get back there again soon, next time with my family.
